Welcome to Lovebirds Bakery, a family-owned, community-focused bakery! We are a husband and wife team and we’re thrilled to invite you into our cozy, home-based micro-bakery nestled in the heart of Redfield, South Dakota. Our mission is simple: baking the world a better place, one fresh loaf, donut, and cookie at a time.
When we moved to Redfield, we quickly noticed how different it was from the East Coast, where coffee shops, donut shops, and bakeries seem to be on every corner. Here in the Midwest, especially in Spink County, those options are far more limited. We realized that finding freshly baked bread often meant traveling long distances or settling for grocery store brands packed with preservatives—and we wanted to change that.
What began as a simple craving for fresh, handmade bread, delicious donuts, and pastries quickly turned into a passion project. With dedication and research, we dove into the South Dakota "Cottage Law" requirements and guidelines and spent the entire fall and winter perfecting our baking skills. That journey inspired us to take the leap and open Lovebirds Bakery, a small, home-based micro-bakery that we’re proud to share with our community.
Our goal is to bring something truly special to Spink County. Lovebirds Bakery is our way of introducing freshly baked, warm bread, handmade donuts, gourmet cookies, and other pastries—all crafted with care and a commitment to quality. Each batch is made in small quantities to ensure freshness, minimize waste, and allow us to source the finest ingredients. Whenever possible, we prioritize local suppliers, ensuring every bite reflects the warmth and character of our region.
We love experimenting with seasonal flavors and time-tested family recipes. Whether you’re craving a classic sourdough loaf, a gooey cookie, or a handcrafted donut, we pour our heart into every item baked fresh from our oven. After all, baking the world a better place means creating something everyone can enjoy!
Since we operate out of our home, all orders are made in advance to ensure everything you pick up is as fresh as possible. We can’t wait to bake something special just for you!
